Join the Cook Legacy Society
While leading mission trips to Honduras in the late 1990s, Reverend Linwood Cook witnessed the overwhelming need of the children and families as well as the destruction and suffering caused by Hurricane Mitch that devastated much of Central Honduras. It was at that time that Linwood felt called to dedicate his work to serving the Honduran people.
Linwood founded Friends of Barnabas (FOB) in 2000. With his wife Brenda and son Matt by his side, Linwood laid the foundation for the organization that exists today. Seeded by one man’s vision and perpetuated by the generosity of many, more than 20 years later, FOB has become an essential service provider for healthcare services in Honduras.
The Cook Legacy Society is comprised of individuals, who, like Linwood Cook, share in a love of service, a dedication to children’s health, and a commitment to making a lasting difference in Honduras for generations to come.
By supporting FOB initiatives through your estate or life income gift, you are joining a special group of individuals who have recognized the long-term importance of FOB’s work in Honduras. You are ensuring that its legacy will be preserved, cherished, and nurtured.
Life Income Gifts allow donors to make a gift now and receive income for their lifetimes. These gifts include charitable gift annuities, charitable remainder trusts, and pooled income fund gifts. Life income gifts also provide significant tax benefits.
Estate Gifts provide support to FOB after the lifetime of the donor. They include bequests by will or living trust, future gifts of retirement plan assets, and life insurance proceeds.
To become a valued honoree of the Cook Legacy Society and the entire Barnabas family, you simply need to notify FOB’s Development Office that you have included the Friends of Barnabas in your estate planning.
