We started the day by taking our team photo, encapsulating all of our Reveille members and Friends of Barnabas staff.
Afterwards, we traveled to the community of La Masica. La Masica is perched atop a mountain about an hour away. We climbed almost to the clouds, finally reaching the town of around 687 inhabitants. The building was excellent for setting up the medical stations. This layout enabled us to progress patients through, ensuring all of their needs were addressed and evaluated.
My station for today was deworming. The Friends of Barnabas translator coordinating this station was amazing! She efficiently and thoroughly communicated with the patients. We were able to distribute vitamins and preventative medication. Towards the end of the day, the temperature rose and got slightly stifling. A quick drink of juice cooled us back down.
I also had the joy of practicing my Spanish with a few Honduran children who came for care. An 8-year-old girl and her friend taught us different running games and Honduran names for tag. A few boys told us all about their favorite colors, foods, and hobbies.
Finally, everything was packed on the bus. We traveled back down, enjoying the spectacular view.
