Team Harrisonburg is in Honduras!

Sunday, October 16, 2022

Some of our nine person Harrisonburg team started our day at 5:30 am. With a cup of coffee and a glance at the fog around the mountains, I felt the excitement that often accompanies anticipation.

Three of our group have made various trips to Honduras with Friends of Barnabas. Six of us are first timers.

We just arrived yesterday, and the camaraderie is quickly forming. The Alfredo House and our very gracious Honduran hosts set the stage perfectly. We learned today that we are in good hands.

We visited the beautiful local waterfall, enjoying a gorgeous hike and some of us even zip lined and enjoyed a most spectacular view.

This afternoon we packed vitamins and wellness packs with a variety of useful over the counter products to distribute to local families this week. The medical professionals trained on the local EMR system.

After a delicious meal at a local restaurant, we returned to the house for devotionals. Our team leader shared a heartfelt story about a young patient. His message was clear. FOB has evolved and taken a deep dive into sustainable, follow-up healthcare for communities and individual patients.

As our team leader said, “You never know where you may make a difference.”

God give us the grace and wisdom to do your work tomorrow.
